Solarlux has scooped two accolades at the ICONIC awards for its new product The Bi-Fold Door and its HQ building and it was also lauded for its Bi-Fold at the Build It awards.
The ICONIC awards, organised by the German design council, are given to visionary buildings, innovative products and sustainable communication in all sectors of architecture, the construction and real estate business and the manufacturing industries. The focus is on the holistic staging and interaction of the trades in the context of architecture.
Solarlux will be presented with its awards at the prestigious ceremony held in the architecturally renowned double cone of BMW Welt on 4th October.
The Bi-fold Door was launched in April of this year to widespread acclaim. The new variant is very sophisticated and individually configurable. As a window and façade system the new system offers maximum freedom of design - whilst maintaining extraordinary high transparency via narrow sight lines of 99mm only, without any constructive doubling.
The new system was also awarded because of its class-leading thermal insulation values and optional anti-burglar protection RC2.
Martijn Venema, Managing Director of Solarlux, said: “Since the product launch, we are only overwhelmed by positive feedback. From the perspective of architects and relevant traders, the ICONIC award shows us how much they already appreciate the high degree of individualisation of the new bi-fold door today."
The company is also delighted to have been awarded an architecture award at ICONIC for its HQ in Melle, Germany. The new head office, which was finished in 2016, is characterised by a sustainable and resource-saving energy recovery system and features a whole host of Solarlux’s products – like a sliding window cero, a 5m high bi-fold door and a double façade in office areas.
Commenting on its success at the Build It awards too, Martijn Venema said: “We are happy and proud that The Bi-Fold Door has won the Build It award for Best Glazed Door. We believe The Bi-fold Door contains all of our 34 years of gaining knowledge about bi-folds, and it is great to be recognised for that!”
